A Visit to America’s Oldest Continuing Operating Bookstore
Moravian Book Shop, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

If you’re looking for a way to spend a leisurely afternoon, head to Main Street in Bethlehem (named by USA Today 10Best as the Best Main Street in America!) and check out Moravian Book Shop. Founded in 1745, it’s America’s oldest continuing operating bookstore.
In addition to a wide variety of books for every literary liking—including those covering regional interests and local history—the shop has an inviting children’s section, a pleasing display of puzzles (The World of Virginia Woolf is stunning!), and for those who lean more tactile than digital (It’s me, hi) a charming stationery section including cute sticky notes, traditional note cards, and tins of colored pencils. (Bonus: I scored a box of reusable wipe-clean flash cards for my granddaughter for $4 at the bargain table!)

Love that this bookstore dates to 1745! We were even still British then!
